Fun: Me, Hanna and David went to Gröna Lund recently. Some tears were shed (David wanted to sit on another place instead of the lion, Hanna was afraid of the "blue train", both of them were afraid in the "fun house" (!), but 90 percent of the time was pure joy! It´s hard to wait more years before they can ride all the events especially when we have a child that is not afraid of anything. You should see the people in the queue when they all stared at David, smiling and wonder if he dares to do the "rocketthing" (not the really high one, but 12-15 meters!). I stood on the side and saw when they looked for where their parent was.
Sad: Our car needs to be repaired....again. This time it´s the AC that has died. It´s a hole in the condensor, and costs 1384 dollars!!!! Please give us some advice here. Is it worth spending money you don´t have on a thing like this?????? Shall we sell the car and wait some years and then buy a newer one?
Fun: Coming sunday we will celebrate David. His friends will come over. The Sunday after that we´ve invited Victoria´s parents and my dad.

In Sweden there are possibly 20 days when AC is needed and 15 when it is desired... $1,700 for 20 days is $85/day... I know a family of seven whose only AC was to roll down the windows with a MANUAL hand crank!

I get your point, even if it´s not entirely true when it comes to 15 days. em
And one more thing: this problem makes the air hot. It doesn´t cool anything. It gets worse than having no AC at all.
I have to agree with J on this one...You could always use a taxi and have them crank the A/C on the really hot days. You would still probably be money ahead!
Yeah, maybe you could have the AC disabled completely so that it doesn´t crank out hot air all the time. But you don´t really need AC (unless you are pregnant).
Just disconnect the AC! My AC in my previous work vehicle also just put out hot air. The garage wanted $800-$1000 to fix it. They said that there was no other way but to get a new compressor. However, I have learned to NEVER trust one opinion. I called Mercury HQ and they said that they had a "sacrificial or false" pulley that would bypass the compressor. The pulley cost $24.00 and 20 minutes of labor.

Jag vet hur det är när AC:n pajar! Det är hemskt! Visst, man har ju åkt omkring i bilar utan sånt i så många år, men nu har man ju vant sig. Och som du sa, det blåser ju bara varmluft när den är trasig. Om jag var som ni skulle jag kolla runt lite. Det finns faktiskt ställen som är billigare. Fråga Nils, han hittade ett ställe med "miljövänligt" pris - alltså inga papper, det halverade hans utgifter för reparation. Ullis har en BRA och BILLIG mek i Grödinge, ring och fråga henne!
Vad gäller att sälja bilen så är det nog en ganska dum idé.
Det är jättesvårt att sälja bilar nu, för att inte säga nästan omöjligt. Om bilen dessutom har trasig AC så är det nog kört.
Jag hoppas att ni hittar någon bra lösning och att ni kan få ner priset rejält! Det är allt annat än roligt att behöva lägga ner så mycket pengar på en bil. :(

Tack för svar Kicki. Jag håller helt med dig där också, vad gäller värdet på bilen om AC:n är trasig. Den måste fixas innan vi bestämmer oss för att sälja. Frågan uppstår då, när ska den fixas? Vid säljningsögonblicket eller tidigare så att vi får ha nytta av den??
